This secluded valley nature reserve is nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, boasting lush greenery, sparkling streams, and an array of wildlife. The reserve's tranquil atmosphere is perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Take a leisurely stroll along the winding paths, breathe in the fresh air, and listen to the sweet songs of birds as you connect with nature.
A lovely walk down the old railway line with plenty of wildlife to look out for plus the stunning viaduct to admire.
Excellent nature reserve. I liked all the primroses beside the path but mostly I loved seeing red squirrels. Great restored viaduct too. Close by is Sandwath Farm which is a farm shop and cafe.
Path enclosed by trees, very few views and cold as the sun was blocked.
The car park is closed not sure if it will reopen, the section of the walk is closed from the disabled car park which is now full of logs so no where to park, there may be another access route available but we didn't see any.
Beautiful day waking from Smardale to Newbiggin lord of nature and a, very well maintained path. Thanks to the charity
