This 14-hectare reserve features a variety of habitats, including woodland, grassland, and wetland, which support a diverse range of flora and fauna. The site is particularly notable for its population of nightingales, which can be heard singing in the spring. Other birds that can be spotted here include kingfishers, herons, and kestrels. The reserve also boasts a variety of wildflowers, including orchids, and is home to many species of butterflies and dragonflies. Visitors can explore the reserve via a network of footpaths, including a boardwalk that winds its way through the wetland areas.
A great place visit with great walks with your family and dogs within the forest around the lakes , huge open fields , if you're lucky you will in April / May you see lambs grazing. You can often come across Muntjac deer, Plenty of squirrels, rabbits and birds singing.
I was amazed at this serene place. Lovely paths to walk around the lake, must visit if you are around , good views and can take good photos if you are interested in nature photography
Blissfully quiet with just the odd quaking from the resident ducks. Our walk was so good and we came across a very large field after coming out of the woods which took us down to a large lake. Another walk along a different path and we came across the Nature Reserve lake. Very few people about, walkers and their dogs and the odd lone walker. Fantastic place to be without a doubt. I have, in the past visits, seen fishermen angling the lake, it is well stocked with an abundance of large carp and other species. Well worth a visit any time.
A lovely place. It's hard to beat a nice walk through the woods or around the lake. Letting the dog off the lead for a good run around the fields, or maybe just a few hours fishing.
Enjoyed a lovely stroll round this reserve. Lovely lake to sit and watch the ducks and other birds while having a cuppa and a snack. Got a bit lost until we used the strav app to guide us around. We will be back with a small picnic.
Lovely little nature reserve full of ducks and spotted a couple of other bird species too! A nice one for a short walk around the lake or a bit of a longer walk around the fields too...but pre-warning for the field trails at the moment, you'll need your wellies!
