This nature reserve is a tranquil oasis in the heart of Hampshire, featuring a mix of heathland, woodland, and wetland habitats. The reserve is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including rare birds, reptiles, and insects. Visitors can explore the reserve's scenic trails, taking in the sights and sounds of nature, and enjoy picnics at one of the many scenic spots. The reserve's acidic soils support a unique community of plants, including heather, gorse, and bilberry, which attract a variety of pollinators. The wetland areas are home to dragonflies, damselflies, and other aquatic life, while the woodland is inhabited by birds such as the nightjar and the woodlark.
We enjoyed a lovely walk around the nature reserve. Easy walk but there is a steep path to get to the view point. Lovely mixture of heath and forest. Parts are very sandy like a beach and we saw some rare, pretty low lying plants.
Only walked a small amount of the common but was lovely walking with my dogs through the trees.
Bit squelchy underfoot but fun was had by all!
Beautiful walks, and stunning views - most importantly lots of friendly dogs
Great place to walk the dog and spot a few planes if that is your thing. A mix of forest heath and open fields.
Always a lovely place for a walk and as sandy heathland, never to wet even in winter
