This rustic cafe and field centre is nestled within the scenic Southwood Country Park, offering a tranquil retreat for visitors. Large windows and outdoor seating areas provide stunning views of the surrounding countryside, while the interior features a warm and cozy atmosphere. The cafe serves a range of hot and cold drinks, light meals, and snacks, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. The adjacent field centre offers information on the park's history, geology, and wildlife, as well as exhibits and displays. Visitors can explore the surrounding parkland, which features walking trails, woodland, and scenic views.
Southwood Country Park is a wonderful spot, especially for dog owners. The location is lovely, with well-maintained paths perfect for leisurely walks. There's a great kids playground that includes a zip line! It's incredibly dog-friendly, with plenty of open areas for your furry friends to explore and socialize. With mix of wooded areas and open fields, it makes a great place for a peaceful stroll or an energizing walk with your dog. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Southwood Country Park is a fantastic spot to enjoy the outdoors. The cafe is also very inviting, has a great menu and wonderful staff. Grab a hot drink for you walk and a bite afterwards. You won't be disappointed.
Love the location, especially sitting outside, though it looked lovely and clean inside with good amount of seating. Service was very slow and quite pricey considering. I ordered poached egg on toast, which I was given but one dry slice of a small wholemeal loaf, cut in half with admittedly, a lovely poached egg just appeared a little sparse to me. I just thought it could at least have had a sprig of parsley perched on top of the egg, or something to make it look a bit more enticing. Maybe I'm just being a bit fussy, but did expect more for the cost.
Lovely food and best coffee I had in a long time! We were very pleased they open early on Sundays as most places do not until 9:30. The only thing I would change is a bread to softer one on kids menu as my one year old was not able to eat toasted sourdough.
Brilliant food, staples you'd expect and few interesting additions. Give it a good, great fit kids too
Perfect place for children to play with free parking space..
