Glasgow Cathedral

Last entry 4.15pm. The most complete medieval cathedral on the Scottish mainland is still a working church with an active congregation. From its magnificent nave and choir to the atmospheric crypt of St Mungo, who was supposedly buried here around AD 612. The cathedral is full of intriguing features. Look for the tomb of Bishop Wishart, a key supporter of Robert the Bruce, and carvings of 11 figures - perhaps the faithful disciples of Christ - on the stone pulpitum screen.

Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (GMRC) is the store for the museums' collections when they are not on display. It is a vast building with rooms full of fantastic objects, from animals to armour, fine art to fossils, and much, much more. The main collections stored here are Art and Paintings, Arms and Armour, Natural History, Technology and World Cultures. The 17 purpose-built and environmentally controlled storage 'pods' house around 1.4 million objects. In fact, only 2% of our collection is on display at any one time and the majority of the remaining objects are stored here.
