This 13th-century church is a stunning example of medieval architecture, featuring a striking tower, beautiful stained glass windows, and intricate stone carvings.
Worth a visit if you are passing, links to Charles Darwin and the Crusaders. Inside, you will find monuments and excellent examples of glass and woodwork. There are a few guide books available for a donation. Locals are friendly and happy to tell you about the church and its history.
A fantastic historic church. Parking is on the road, but it's ok. The grounds and graveyard are kept nice and tidy. I was disheartened to read that the lead has been stolen from the roof of the church. We can't have anything nice these days. I would have taken the time to put my drone up and take an aerial shot, but I figured it would further aid the scummy thieves. Inside is magnificent. The door is a double glass door. There are historic artefacts in the different areas of the church. From stone carved graves to a stone carved roof, gargoyles and some fantastic timber work. Everything is clean and well maintained. I do wonder why the heads are missing from the figures on the wall near the Shakespeare quote... Would recommend to anyone religious, or has an interest in history.
Did the guided tour here as the church always looks so beautiful when we happened to drive past it occasionally. Who knew it had so much history, from Shakespeare to Dickens and so much more, wonderful place and would definitely recommend going on the tour. First Saturday of the month 11am from April to September I believe.
After recently moving to Shropshire and driving past this church we knew we had to go in and have a look. Such a beautiful big church with so much history behind it and there's the remains of an old infirmary next to it. There's plenty of information boards up telling you all the history inside and outside of the church. Definitely one to be seen
Beautiful place, found Little Nell's grave which is something that fascinated me as a child. Every time we went past my nan would say "Little Nell's grave is over there" visited after a visit to Boscobel House. We didn't even realise there used to be a castle, college and infirmary there so we now know a bit of the history too.
Very pleasant and interesting old church reasonable amount of information available on site about its history
