St. Bellsarmin's Tor is a rugged and windswept hill on the northwestern edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, England. The tor is a granite outcrop that rises to a height of 450 meters, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding moorland and countryside. On a clear day, it is possible to see the north coast of Cornwall and the distant hills of Dartmoor in Devon. The tor is surrounded by rough, heather-covered moorland, and the area is home to a variety of wildlife, including red deer, foxes, and birds of prey. The summit of the tor is marked by a large, weathered cross, which is a popular spot for walkers and hikers to rest and take in the views.
A lovely spot, with a most pleasant and gentle climb up from the village of Millpool through bluebell woods, across a tinkling stream and up to the Tor. OK, so it's on the boundary of a MOD Range and the A30 intrudes into the view, but for me that all added to the interest.
A night time navigation walk in mist which turned out to be very eventful. Completing the walk in the dark, we encountered members of the military on exercises, who thought we were also members of their troup until our dog gave us away by growling at them. A wonderful walk.
Like a beacon high Silhouetted 'fore the sky Bellarmin's be why
Easy walk to and from the tor, nice little spot to sit and have lunch.
Cows had attitude, but views are stunning.
