The natural barriers of inland cliffs and a seaward ridge of sand dunes protect the St Cyrus grasslands from the ravages of the weather. In summer the reserve is awash with colour - from the purple of the clustered bellflower to the delicate hues of butterflies and moths. Overhead, peregrine falcons circle high in the air, watching and waiting to pounce on their prey. The viewpoint gives an amazing view across the whole reserve and the coastline beyond. From here you can follow trails down to the reserve and explore. Or just enjoy the view. The viewpoint is at the end of Beach Road, St Cyrus village. You can park in the village and walk to the viewpoint or there is very limited parking at the viewpoint.
Beautiful view, lots of wildlife and wildflowers. You'll meet lots of dogs, rabbits and find blooming thistles within the bushes. The cliffside is very sudden so don't allow your child or dog run off. The trail is very easy if there's no mobility issues.
An absolutely outstanding beach. Beautiful sand stretching out in both directions. Although a few walkers out enjoying it, the beach is so large you hardly notice anyone else. Definitely the best I've been on in Scotland, and Jack the Lab loved it
Not too bad going down to the beach but a bit of a hike going back up, lovely, stunning beach well worth a visit
Only did the short trail to the beach as I was using crutches at the time but definitely a beautiful beach !! Lovely for families, picnic and spent the day over the sun
Plenty of parking space. Electric car charger point. Toilet. Baby changing facility. The visitors centre is very interesting. The walk to the beach goes across the reserve via a long wooden bridge. Lots of information plaques along the way. The beach is sandy and stunning. Well worth the walk.
