This 16th-century church is a beautiful example of Lakeland architecture, with a simple yet elegant design featuring a tall tower, slate roofs, and a tranquil atmosphere. The interior boasts stunning stained-glass windows, intricate wood carvings, and a historic organ, creating a sense of peace and contemplation.
Well worth a visit to see the view of the town from the top of the hill. The church is well maintained and there are a lot of grounds you can walk around as well.
Very interesting place to visit with excellent views of the surrounding countryside.
Such a calm and peaceful place. We walked around the church and the surrounding cemetery, meeting a friendly cat along the way. The views of the surrounding hills at the top of the cemetery were stunning.
Standing over the village of Hawkshead this is quite an imposing sight as it is usually the first building that comes into sight as you approach the village. Definitely the stand out building in Hawhshead & a fine example of a local stone built church. Good views of Latterbarrow & surrounding fells from the churchyard as well.
Fantastically kept church and the surrounding ground's were wonderful, also what a brilliant view from up there. Normally most of the work around church's is undertaken by volunteers,if this is true, they have done an amazing job.
Beautifully arranged and shows architecture of many religious figures it even holds a small book section with a trust pay system with little card and pictures too
