A beautiful venue for weddings and other events. Ceremonies can take place in the charming small stately home or in the garden. There is a choice of sites for a marquee reception. The celebrated 18th century landscape garden, Grade 1 listed, was laid out about 1720. It retains its formal, classical design, about 50 acres, with long beech avenues leading to temples, statues, lake and ponds. There are interesting flower and woodland gardens, wild flowers are encouraged. This was the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and royal memorabilia are on on show in the house. The garden is open for visits most Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. See the website for details of house tours, plays and concerts.
We thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour of the house followed by exploring the beautiful gardens. The house is really homely and was brought to life by the excellent, knowledgeable guide. The gardens are amazing, with lots of beautiful vistas, hidden garden buildings and statues as well as lovely flowers. An afternoon well spent! Visitors need to book visits using the property website
Had an amazing time there, a magical area full of beautiful and diverse landscapes - perfect for a long, relaxing walk or a family day out. The gardens are never too busy so you can enjoy the remoteness of the area and truly immerse yourself in nature.
Very relaxing and great fun looking for the statues & temples - we found all of them! Look out for the friendly cows in the fields!
Lovely formal gardens, a hidden gem as rarely open to public. Excellent tea and cakes also.
We chose to get married St Paul's Walden Bury in September, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Everyone commented how beautiful and unique the location was. It certainly a rustic venue where you will have to organise things yourself, but if you are ok with that you can really make things your own.
The gardein is open for the NHS 3 times a year. Its a lovely place to walk around.
