This museum showcases a collection of 38 Pictish stones, which are intricately carved monuments that date back to the 8th and 9th centuries. The stones feature a range of symbols, animals, and geometric patterns, offering a glimpse into the mysterious culture of the Picts. The museum also provides insight into the history and significance of the stones, as well as the people who created them.
I'll give three stars because we turned up on a whim to find it closed on Mondays. A local chap told us that it's often not open even when it is supposed to be. We will return... I'm sure it would be great. Doesn't look very big though, so may not be allowed day of a job.
Check the opening times by phoning ahead. This is a peaceful place where you can spend time up close with a wealth of carved stones. I loved it.
Gorgeous Class II Pictish cross in the churchyard and beautiful church sitting on top of the mound, with museum a 2 minute walk away which houses some 38 Class I and II Pictish stones. If you're lucky you may spot the local heron in the burn!
Open by appointment only. A shame. Next time I'll book and hopefully give it a higher score
took my son, but only open by appointment :( Very disappointing
Appointments only have to call in advance
Restaurant
Good for kids
