Great walk from a free layby to Stanage Edge, Stanedge Pole, and High Neb. Rocky ridge to walk along, then a stony track to the actual Pole. Lots of people about walking, even in the wind and rain!
A good visual marker for where you're coming and where you've been! We like to visit Stanage Edge at least once a year and nearly always stop here for a mini rest, especially if my son is with us. We usually park alongside the bottom of Redmires Reservior and walk up.
Lovely place to go for a walk just up from Redmires Reservoirs and Hallam Moors and Stanage Edge isn't far away ,maybe 20mins walk tops with its wonderful and dramatic views .
If you're up for a bit of breathtaking scenery and don't mind a cold, blustery wind then a trip out to Stanage Edge is a must. Tie up your hiking boots. Pack up some sandwiches and a flask of something hot, and wear appropriate clothing for the elements, this is a super way to spend a few hours.
A nice Sunday stroll. Parked at Redmires car park, and walked roughly a mile there, and a mile back. Far reaching views, Castleton and Sheffield both easily visible. Stanage Lodge looked impressive in the autumn sunlight. Lots of choices if you wish to walk further from here. Parking is limited, so go early.
