Striking, 60ft cascade down rhododendron-clad cliffs & reached by a steep path along a ravine.
Tranquil walk in the lush mossy, fern filled woods next to the rushing river. Magical. Feels otherworldly. Good sturdy footwear is needed as rocky footpath and steps are slippy when wet. If you haven't a head for heights, you do not need to go up the steps to the viewing platform but can double back along the river for a pleasant walk. After the viewing platform, there is an alternative route back along a stony bridle path which avoids having to go back down the steep steps.
The waterfalls themselves are beautiful! It's also completely free as it's a public trail. However google maps might take you to a farm and ask you to drive through it, you cannot do this. Instead you need to park at the top of the road, and walk for 2km through the countryside to get to the entrance gate. Once there you can walk down the falls, look at them from the viewing platform and hike up and down the paths to see different parts of the waterfalls. Overall, a beautiful and scenic place!
Beautiful walk to the waterfall. You first park at the top of the road , then follow the path- its about 40 min walk/hike, will be slower with kids. It was raining but that made no difference to our experience. When you arrive at the waterfall , there is a small gate you need to open to access the platform to have a full view of the waterfall! If you want to see amazing views , reconnect with nature and a peaceful walk definitly recommend!
We parked in the woodlands near Dalegarth Campsite and walked. It's very well signposted and was walked around 40 minutes through a very picturesque woodlands, over a number of wooden bridges. We went as it was raining and it was very slippery. The path is mostly stones which were slippery. there are two viewing platforms. When we went, the lower viewing platform was closed due to danger. But the upper viewing platform was open
Lovely drive up to parking area and nice walk to the falls with a view point platform then a walk down steps to bottom of the river
Enjoyable walk from Dalegarth station. The lower route was closed but the views from the top of the falls were wonderful, even on a cloudy day.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
