This museum showcases the history of Stocksbridge and its people, with exhibits on the village's industrial heritage, including the steel industry and the iconic Stocksbridge bypass. The museum also features displays on local culture, agriculture, and community life, as well as a collection of artifacts and photographs that tell the story of the area's past.
Good small museum and local history / heritage centre in the Town Hall. This is run by the Stocksbridge & District History Society and open a couple of days a week. It is staffed by volunteers. We turned up on a Tuesday morning and were given a good welcome. We were searching for information about my Firth relations and history in Deepcar, Stocksbridge, Bolsterstone and area. We'd found a picture of my mother in the 1930s from the website and wanted to find out more about the history relating to it. The volunteers were really helpful and have a lot of information in their archives to assist people doing local family history research. All in all a really interesting visit which has grounded me as having local family connections and provided lots of help and local knowledge. Thanks to Dennis & Winston!!!
