This 14th-century castle sits atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the River Tees, its rugged stone walls and towers a testament to its medieval heritage. The castle's architecture is a mix of fortified stronghold and comfortable residence, with grand halls, ornate chambers, and picturesque courtyards. Its most distinctive feature is the striking Great Hall, with its impressive wooden ceiling and large windows offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Our 3rd stay here. We love it, and our dogs love it too. We relax as they can't get out, across the moat. The history of the castle, and work done by the LMT is incredible and fascinating.
A unique castle with a holiday let built into the old walls and a large moat and pond. It is private to those staying, so anyone stopping for a look can't access the castle itself, but its an interesting place to visit on a walk.
I've been wanting to stay here from when I first discovered the Landmark Trust, about 20 years ago. I'm pleased to report that I wasn't disappointed. Finished to the standard Landmark Trust quality with everything you need. I thought it might have been freezing cold but it wasn't at all. With a fire going in the sitting room on Saturday evening with ltd of wind and rain outside, it was a perfect night. Such a nice change to have a break from the TV. There's a pub in the village about a 10 minute walk away sand the surrounding area is interesting. The coast is surprisingly close and there are plenty of fords in nearby villages. Thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Stogursey Castle is a fantastic holiday cottage owned by the Landmark Trust. The old thatched cottage sits within its own castle walls encircled by a moat. A great family retreat set within a quiet Somerset village.
Beautiful semi- hidden castle in Stogursey, a short walk from the main road past an old watermill. No access to the castle mound, as the renovated property is available to hire. Fully encompassed by an original moat. Fabulous!
Strange place, wonderful atmosphere and ambiance. The castle has a house were the keep was, this is sumpthacticly done. A most if you are around Stogursey.
