Easter-October tours of former abbey and historic house linked to Jane Austen, with scenic grounds.
Spent a lovely summer afternoon at Stoneleigh Abbey. The afternoon tea was brilliant and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The tour of the house was also great! There are so many wonderful pieces of art and furnishings to view and such an interesting history to learn about. The grounds are the perfect place for a nice afternoon stroll with the added bonus of the river and ducks to feed.
Great historical mansion to visit on a nice weekend, we spent almost 2 hours including the guided tour and some tea and cakes. There's still residency on the top floors and extension so it's only allowed to visit the first floor but lots of history packed up in a couple of rooms! Definitely recommend the guided tour. English Heritage members has 2 for 1 entrance (not for the tour).
As far as stately homes go, this is a real gem! The interior can only be visited as part of a guided tour, but that is just fine! Our guide's passion for the place was clearly apparent while he guided us through the magnificent house, telling us fascinating stories with a good sense of humour. If you visit, don't miss out on a walk in the extensive park! Fabulous place!
A beautiful visit, I can't recommend the high tea more, staff and scones exceptional. However, the highlight was the tour. Hugo really brought the house to life for us all. What a great afternoon!
We went here for a walk around the grounds and a cream tea. It was an awesome experience and the new tea room in the vaulted ceiling room added loads of atmosphere to the event. The sandwiches and scones were great and very tasty but the cake absolutely blew them out of the park. Fresh tasty and light, absolutely delicious. Staff were all fantastic which helped make it a special day. Next time it will be good to join a tour of the house. Really good value for money and a terrific event.
I enjoyed a fabulous birthday afternoon tea surprise with my daughter, which was amazing; as was the wonderful tour of the house, the history was so interesting. The walk in the grounds was peaceful & lovely. Just want to thank all of the staff for being so lovely & helpful & for offering a wonderful service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit today. Thank you.
