HOUSE IS OPEN EVERY SUNDAY from 13.30 GARDENS OPEN Saturday and Sundays Stonor Park has been the Stonor family's residence for 850 years. Making it one of the oldest family homes still lived in today. When you visit, you will see why. It's beautiful. Our historic building and sweeping grounds are breathtaking. And our family collection of art and artefacts is extraordinary. It's fascinating. You can view the work of St. Edmund Campion, created when he was given refuge here in 1581. And outside sits our oldest resident: a perfectly preserved prehistoric stone circle. Visit Tumblestone Hollow, our fantastic adventure playground. It's a place of laughter and light, shadow and sunshine, peace and tranquillity.
Amazing place to go with kids. Unfortunately we went on a drizzly morning so the slides were wet, which caused my grandson to literally fly off the end and wind himself. No serious damage but unnerved him, which was a shame as we were having a great time until then. That said, the park is brilliant and the musical tree is a lovely touch.we would dinitly come again (but maybe stay off the slides if it's wet!)
Great location for Rally of the Giants. Nestled between the hills makes it a good backdrop for such an event. Everything about hosting the show was good. Only criticism is that there was no sign posting of other areas like the kids play area. Apparently if we'd visited normally we'd have seen signs adjacent to the visitor centre, but we didn't. A couple of stewards to the house would have helped, to answer questions, like what access to the rear garden. Other than that, didn't go in the house as it was wall to wall bodies when it opened at 1.30, but will come back.
We visited Stonor Park today, I have seen the sign since my daughter moved to Watlington and have been so looking forward to going. The surrounding grounds are lovely But the actual place was more disappointing than I could begin to say. When we looked at it online, it looked beautiful, but in reality, it was underwhelming. We walked around the garden in 10 mins and thought we would go to the pantry for coffee and cake as we had spent PS13 plus a PS1.60 booking fee to get into the park but on arrival at the pantry the door was locked. We saw the then walked to the chapel, followed the signs, and sadly, the door was locked It should tell you online that you have to take your own picnic/flask if you want a hot drink. Sadly, we felt cheated On a bank holiday weekend, you would think the chapel and pantry would be open. So we could have sat and at least had a coffee before our 1 hour 30 min journey home. Sadly, for me, it's not worth the money.
Stayed nearby on the Saturday night to visit Stoner park on the Sunday, great weather and what a great setting for an American car show ie Rally of the Giants. Gardens and house amazing. Well worth a visit and walk around or just sit on the front lawn in the sun.
Not only did we have a fab day out at the Easter trail. The staff - in particular Jane were so incredibly helpful when our car broke down. True kindness. Thank you all so much
Visited with my 5 year old grandson. The lady at the reception was very helpful and patient with me trying to download the tickets on my phone. An amazing place for an adventurous 5 year old. We didn't eat Pizza as we bought our own food but the coffee was great and the service very friendly. The toilet facilities when we were there were clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend as a great place to visit.
