This museum showcases the history and heritage of Stranraer and the surrounding area, with exhibits on the town's maritime past, the local fishing industry, and the region's natural history. The museum is housed in a historic building and features a range of artifacts, including model boats, fishing gear, and natural history specimens. Visitors can also explore a recreated Victorian street scene and a collection of vintage photographs.
Me my son and partner visited this museum, as it was raining and wanted to do something indoors. This didn't disappoint. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful. The museums has lots of intresting objects and artifacts from the local area. It's free but you can donate.
Quite an unexpected find . Museum is free, lots of interesting exhibits about the local history considering its limited size. The upstairs exhibition on dinosaurs was a real find , colouring in, games, dressing up, videos , dinosaur rubbings and super dinosaur models - definitely worth a visit .
Small museum with some interesting local history. Also part of the display is the nearby castle of st John, with again some interesting historical information about its use over the years since the 1500's when it was built. Stone spiral staircase so not good for disabled or elderly sadly.
Had a fantastic visit here with family whilst on holiday. The lady in the reception was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend a visit
