Summerhill is a unique Country Park that is both a Local Nature Reserve and Outdoor Activity Centre. Come and explore the 100 acre site on your own or join in with our many bookable activities. We offer a range of curriculum linked activities for schools and there is always something for the family to do in the school holidays. Staff at the Visitors Centre run activity sessions in archery, rock climbing, orienteering, team games, nature study and crafts for groups and the general public. We have a Boulder Park, one of the largest of its type in Europe, a BMX cycling course, a closed road cycle circuit, and facilities for archery. We are also home to the Hartlepool Cycle Clinic.
Great walking area, free parking. Plenty to do for the kids. Rides, slides, nature watches, sculptures and more. Kids really enjoyed here. There is also a cafe here which was shut on our visit so I can't comment on it.
Great place to have a walk and spend some family time in the nature. Great trails to walk and bike as well.
I've been coming to Summerhill now for well over a decade, maybe closer to 15 years, my racing career start at Summerhill on the older dirt BMX track. I now visit regularly to train on the cycle track opposite the visitors centres. The cafe is always a worthwhile stop as it always has tasty cakes ready and serves up a good coffee and providing the weather is good, sitting outside simply can not be beaten. A great little set-up for children of all ages!
Great outdoor space with something for almost everyone. Children's areas, great walks, dog friendly, horse friendly, children's track and dirt track. Nice cafe on site too, not had the chance to make use of all they great stuff on offer but look forward to.
You can either follow the paths or get a little 'lost' (no clear path) in the forest parts of the park. I love the viewing platforms by the ponds which are currently full of tadpoles (May 2024). Lovely cafe on site.
Finally I've had time to visit this park, was on my list for a while now. Easily accessible car park, visitor centre (didn't go in so can't comment ) , plenty of space for kids to play! Lots of picnic tables. Paths for people to walk. Sadly rain spoiled our day out so very quick visit, never got to walk around the paths to see what else to explore. Will definitely come back.
