Summerleaze was founded by Debbie Williams and her late mother Joan Payne in October 1989. Now, more than 25 years after its foundation, Summerleaze continues to offer that same personal service in the heart of the peaceful Gwent countryside near Redwick on the north shores of the Severn Estuary. Building on a long tradition of animal care and understanding just how hard it is to have loved and lost a beloved companion, Summerleaze was established to offer specialist help and services to bereaved pet owners and vets throughout Wales and England. It is with great pride, respect, and dignity that the staff at Summerleaze under the ownership of the PCS Group, continue to perform their daily duties.
I cannot recommend Summerleaze enough, everyone there is so kind and genuinely caring. I was having a few issues finding someone to take my cat Peter after bank holiday weekend. I was able to pick my cat up from the vets and bring him straight to Summerleaze on the same day, I'm so grateful for how easy they made everything. When we arrived with Peter we were able to sit with him in a peaceful room and say the goodbyes we hadn't had chance to say. We could also leave his favourite toy to be cremated along with him which was a sweet touch. We picked his ashes up the next day and they were presented beautifully along with a pawprint memento. I would add that the price point was accessible and worth every penny in my opinion. Thank you Summerleaze!
I can't thank summerleaze enough for their help. While I was on holiday my darling pug Skye passed away.. in a panic I didn't know what to do.. when I spoke to the staff they were so understanding.. they arranged for my auntie to take Skye up to the crematorium. I expressed that I wanted to pick her up myself when I was home and it was no trouble at all.. the woman I spoke to on the phone was absolutely lovel... Massive thank you to the team for helping in such a awful and heartbreaking situation xx
I had a distressing experience when I took our beloved dog Lennie to Summerleaze to be cremated. My young son requested a final keepsake of his best friend in the form of a paw print. On the morning of the cremation I paid to get a paw print taken and it was clearly noted on the paperwork. I took Lennie to the place of cremation and handed him over to the staff before leaving. Not 3 minutes later as I was driving away, I got a distressed call from a staff member saying they had cremated Lennie immediately after handing him over, without taking our paw print. She hadn't had a chance to hand over the paperwork to her colleagues that should be checked before the cremation takes place! During this extremely painful time I was then left with breaking the news to my son who will forever be heartbroken at such carelessness. Summerleaze customer care were very unsympathetic to the situation and could offer no explanation as to why this sad mistake occurred. Losing a cherished pet is incredibly painful, and their lack of care and attention during such a sensitive time is truly disheartening. It's unfortunate that they prioritised profit over compassion and I urge you to go elsewhere if you are considering their services.
I have used Summerleaze twice. Once in 2020 and yesterday February 2024 for my cats. The location is so peaceful and the grounds are beautiful. It's appointment only to add a personal touch and I found all staff to be kind, empathetic, caring and informative. The little Chapel is gorgeous and we weren't rushed in the slightest. For both cats, we purchased a frame that holds 4 photos and the ashes are in the back. It's presented with care along with a certificate of cremation. Summerleaze made losing a pet that little bit easier. Thank you. x
Summerleaze were great after my cat unexpectedly passed away last week. Good communication and fast service, lovely little chapel where I could say a proper goodbye as well. Despite it being a very difficult time for me it was nice knowing that my boy was in safe hands. Thank you!
What wonderful staff work here. Sadly we had to plan a home euthanasia for our belovd cat Cleo (who had cancer) & the team at Summerleaze were so understanding, compasionate & responded so quickly to all my enquiries. Thank you for making a very difficult day for me & my girls an easier one & for giving our beloved Cleo the send off she deserved. Thank you.
