We got lucky with a sunny day as it's located in some lovely grounds of a golf course in a pretty part of Surrey Hills. Laurie gets everyone to have each bird sit on their arm. Later on they fly into your arm for feeding. Watching a vulture fly towards you like that is quite something. All through this we just chatted to Laurie, who naturally puts you at ease, and has expert knowledge and a very obvious passion for caring for and nurturing his birds. Thanks for the pub recommendation, Laurie, the nearby Parrot pub served the best lunch we've had for a while!

We had a fantastic morning learning about and flying the birds at Surrey hills falconry. Laurie is inviolate passionate about his birds and they are part of the family. We flew owls, hawks, falcons and hooded vultures and it was a wonderful experience for the whole family. Would definitely recommend.
We spent a very enjoyable and informative 90 minutes in the peaceful grounds of Gatton Manor with our host Laurie and four of his beautiful feathered friends. The ample parking right next to the private, spacious and flat show area should meet most accessibility requirements. Facilities were available within the nearby golf club house. Laurie was onsite ready to welcome us when we arrived and introduced us to Buddy, Dennis, Marley and Vinnie who we got to meet and handle one at a time. Laurie took his time to tell us about the birds in great detail and answer many questions about them and falconry in general. We then had the opportunity to fly the birds and see them in action swooping or gliding from their perch to our gloved arms. Laurie was a joy to spend time with and he clearly demonstrated extensive knowledge and dedication to the care of his birds who themselves had wonderful characters and temperament. As an experience it is certainly something we would do again and recommend to others, for both adults and children. The one to one nature and the focused time you get to spend with Laurie and his birds make it a very intimate and valued experience.
