This 2,500-acre park in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, features a large lake, walking trails, and a variety of wildlife including swans, ducks, and birds. Serene, tranquill, beautiful place to fish or walk around
Nice place for a walk there are some ducks, swans and geese. Also when you get round the back of the lake there is an opening so you can access the other lakes. The car park gets very busy as it's used by angler's, people using the allotments as well as walkers, so something to keep in mind.
A nice area to walk with a large field for off lead dogs, and a shady lakeside walk however this area does have lots of fishing persons so best to keep dogs on lead especially if they are prone to sniffing out bait or jumping into the lakes. The field is currently waist high in grass & meadow flowers which is lovely but watch for grass seeds & ticks on your dogs. Lots of butterflies & other insects. A circular walk here is about 40 mins but can be extended into the area behind Hampshire Lake retirement Village, this is private land & walking is permitted currently so suggest it is respected so we can enjoy continued use. Also an area of allotments which has to be walked around. Parking & a few bins.
Only 1 mile long so a nice stroll, can be longer if you follow the blackwater river very relaxing walk
Lovely place Clean Have different lakes You can spend more than a pair of hours walking all over the lakes
Easy well surfaced flat walk around a pretty lake. There's a full walk probably taking 45 minutes or a shorter 30 minute stroll using the "island" foot bridge. Popular with the local angling club but all the "pegs".are gated and you, or your dog won't be bothering them. Plenty of water fowl to enjoy - including swans!
