This heritage railway is a 12-mile track that runs from Swanage to Norden, passing through Corfe Castle and Harmans Cross. The railway features a range of vintage steam and diesel trains, offering a nostalgic journey through the picturesque Dorset countryside. Passengers can enjoy the scenic views of the Purbeck Hills, Corfe Castle, and the surrounding villages while experiencing the charm of a bygone era.
A lovely station to visit and when you get here it's like going back in time. It's nice that places like this can be preserved and enjoyed. It's great watching the steam train come in. Plenty of seating, some books to read, and a very tidy platform. Well done worth a visit if you are in the area.
Great day riding the stream train, family and dog. Would be good if they updated their terms and conditions. You don't have to book early and receive printed tickets. The guards are quite happy to check the email receipt. We booked online on the station whilst waiting for the first train.
We travelled on the steam train down to Swanage, we're we disembark. The station is like going back in time . There's a blue plaque on the station wall reminding people about the part this station played running up to D Day. The beach is about a 15-minute walk through the town.
Brilliant family day out. Must visit destination for steam train enthusiasts. Plus you can visit the iconic castle that is Corfe Castle . And then there's the beach and pubs and restaurants etc. at Swanage. Need I say more?
Herman's Cross was a tranquil, beautiful railway station ... taking you back in time to the 1940's. Worth a visit. Thank you to all the volunteers for its upkeep :)
Lovingly restored engines, rolling stock and stations. Regular steam and diesel runs at reasonable prices. An opportunity to relive the goldenage of rail travel or, maybe, imagine you are being ferried to Hogwarts. A great family experience, rain or shine.
