The Swansea Museum is a treasure trove of Welsh history and culture, showcasing a vast collection of artifacts, artworks, and exhibits that tell the story of Swansea and its people. Located in the heart of Swansea Marina, the museum is housed in a stunning 19th-century building, offering breathtaking views of the marina. The museum's collections include everything from ancient Egyptian mummies to modern art, with a strong focus on Swansea's industrial and maritime heritage. Visitors can explore exhibits on the city's copper industry, its role in the Industrial Revolution, and its connections to the sea. The museum also features a recreated Victorian street, a medieval castle, and a collection of vintage vehicles, making it a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in history, culture, and the city of Swansea.
It's a lovely place with lovely staff. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and seeing the beautiful sights. I recommend you go with a company to stake pictures and discuss with, also check out the Egyptian Mummy. Overall, I rate this experience highly in my books. I liked that it was up-to-date as it even had a COVID-19 record and point of care consumables. 100% recommend if that's your style.
The museum was great. I'm not sure if anyone else has had an experience, but both my daughter and I heard a moaning/groan ghostly noise in the corner of the room with all the animals. Was quite weird. It was like it was atmospheric, really hard to discibe. We checked if there were any speakers on, which there wasn't. I've since researched, and apparently, it is haunted! I've added a picture to where the noise came from.
A superb museum, so many artefacts relating to Swansea's history and heritage on display. So much that I didn't know about the past people from Swansea, visiting was very worthwhile. Free entry also!
The staff was very nice to explain about the museum. Free access. There is a mummy room, some more info on 20th century Swansea, exhibits about life in Wales, a bit of archeology and so on.
A small museum..just 4 rooms. The Egyptian room is very interesting. Free entry, friendly staff, parking nearby, whlchair accessible. Takes an hour or two to do a moderate visitation. Loads of local history. Recommended.
