This heritage railway runs on a 2.5-mile track, offering a scenic ride through the Wiltshire countryside. The railway features a collection of vintage locomotives and carriages, including steam and diesel trains. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely ride while taking in the picturesque views of the surrounding hills and villages. The railway also hosts various events and themed rides throughout the year, such as Santa Specials and Summer Steam Days.
I visit quite regular as its local , volunteers are friendly and the cafe always seems to be open and welcoming which suits me , museum and shop , good prices for the train too.
Great local run railway. These guys really care about the service. They give their time. The Santa trains are fab. Good value and great to do in Dec. Been going for years. Nice cafe in station. Look for opening times. Gift shop. The women's disabled loss have been refurbished to a very high standard. Looks like a hotel. They intend to do mens next with funding. Lovely team great experience all year round
A highly fascinating little station at the Swindon and Cricklade Railway. Hayes Knoll can only be accessed by train from Blunsdon Station and is only a short ride away. Although the station is of basic design, it is of period style. The loco shed is located via steps leading down to the viewing area. There is a decent amount of various locomotives and rolling stock to look at, but taking pictures can be difficult with people walking around and tight gaps. The site is not recommended for those with mobility problems as you will be walking over loose ballast and over rail heads which will be slippery. There is however, a fascinating amount of information to be learnt about each vehicle and each tour takes about 30 - 45 minutes. Overall, I enjoyed my visit
The engine shed and depot of the Swindon & Cricklade Railway. A great place to look at projects that the hardworking volunteers are currently doing. Staff are always friendly and accomodating even in tough situations. Toilet facilities on site too.
Visited last week for the santa train experience with our four year old, it was totally magical and we all loved it, lovely staff and everything was run so smoothly, a real special experience we'll all remember and would definitely recommend!
