The 'end of the line' for the Talyllyn Railway, but the start of many adventures. Apart from a shelter, there are no facilities here (but a defibrillator is installed in the building). There are many walks signposted from here up the valley, or just wander up the incline which used to carry slate from the quarry. Interpretation boards explain lots about the history. COVID update - due to current restrictions you cannot join or alight a train at this station. Please see full details on our website
Well worth getting off the train and taking a hike up to the top of the waterfalls.. scenery is stunning and then you get the brilliant bonus of riding the train back again!
Final destination on Talyllyn narrow gauge railway. Not much there apart from some walks so trains don't linger. Most people stay on the train and come straight back down again. Journey still worth it as great views on the way up.
A simple pedestrian shelter on the platform, with path linking to the valley walks and dramatic footbridge over the stream that runs through the nearby gorge. But best of all are the steam locomotives that run on the Talyllyn Railway.
Although there is "nothing" here it is a wonderfull spot, all you can hear is the rush of water from the stream cascading below and then once in a while a little steam engine will appear, run round it's train and depart again back down the valley.
No toilet or cafe here. The walker will enjoy loads of ways to go. Walk back to the next station if you decide to.
End of the line. Just enough time to look around while they switch the locomotive for the return journey or you can hike around with a hop-on/off ticket.
Good for kids
