Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Tate St Ives showcases work by artists including Barbara Hepworth, Marlow Moss, Naum Gabo and Patrick Heron, whose captivating works have brought international attention to St Ives and West Cornwall. Alongside displays from the Tate collection, the gallery presents modern and contemporary art from around the world through a dynamic exhibitions programme.
I enjoyed the art and enjoyed contemplating the question of "what makes certain art museum worthy?" It was a pleasant way to spend a few hours, especially if the weather is bad. This is a beautiful building right off the sea. Their cafe at the top has amazing views and the gift shop is fun. I recommend going if only to get a tea at the top.
Tate St Ives is an essential visit for art lovers. A stylish building is the perfect setting for a diverse range of modern art. A personal favourite was the painting by Picasso but there is much to enjoy here. Great facilities and with a good cafe / bar on the top floor with stunning views across the beach in St Ives make visiting The Tate a priority if you're in the area.
When entering, there was a Queue of about 2 families and about a 4 minute wait. Under 18s were free and adults were PS13.50 each. There are 10 galleries; the first 3 more enclosed rooms, 4-7 were more open. 10 was a darker room and We didn't visit 8-9. Overall very peaceful and enjoyable. If you DON'T LIKE MODERN ART then this definitely won't be for you. The only thing I don't like was the menu at the cafe; they only had sea-food options for the entire menu, other than that- a very pleasant experience.
The Tate Modern art gallery in Cornwall is a must-visit! The diverse collection and innovative displays make it a captivating experience for art enthusiasts. The gallery's ambiance and attention to detail truly elevate the visit. After exploring the art, don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a delightful afternoon tea at the gallery's charming cafe, adding a touch of relaxation to your cultural experience."
Some lovely artwork and it's very calm. Good interactive additions for children. Cafe is very expensive - PS7 for a scone, jam, and clotted cream! It was good, though
A must-see for fans of the Tate! Unlike the ones in London, however, you do have to pay as they do not have a permanent collection, and the cost is 13,50PS per adult. It is a very nice building and the exhibit was great. It's definitely worth a stop if you are in St. Ives
