Science discovery centre with two floors of hands-on exhibits, live science shows and planetarium shows at weekends and during school holidays. Techniquest delivers more STEM education in communities and schools than any other science and discovery centre in the UK. We inspire children and young people to continue with their education and take up careers in STEM -- and we inspire adults to think about science differently.
A great place to visit on a rainy day! Lots and lots to do, hands on activities very much like 'Wonderlab' at the Science Museum in London but bigger and better! Facilities are good, especially the free cloakroom where you can leave buggies and coats.
My kids had a great time here. The exhibits were all very interesting and it was refreshing to find 99% of them were actually working. It also didn't get too busy so the displays were easy to access. Definitely good value for money.
Pleasant couple of hours spent in Techniquest with our son and young grandsons. Tickets bought in advance as very busy during the school holiday periods. Loads of science based things for children of all ages to try out to see how things work. Well worth a visit.
My family and I enjoyed a good few hours at Techniquest. We began the day by attending a workshop in a lab. We were all able to complete some easy yet effective experiments under the guidance of a really engaging member of staff. It is suitable for children aged 9 and above and was a lot of fun! We spent the rest of our time exploring. There were so many interactive stations and we could have spent so much longer there. We didn't have time to visit the planetarium and would definitely like to return in the future!
Visited Cardiff Techniquest again today and it was absolutely brilliant as always. We booked on to the planetarium show and wow. Thomas Evans was doing the show and mind blown! His knowledge for one was outstanding, how he kept everyone involved and was able to teach and expanded minds was something to see. Would 100% recommend seeing his shows. I really want to book the science one next time. The whole place is clean, tidy and so much to do. Staff are brilliant, so friendly and know exactly what they're doing. Really appreciate how smoothly the day went. Lovely cafe on site. In a beautiful place. The ants also always amaze us. Would watch them for hours. So much to say but would recommend you go for yourself. I'm sure we will be back soon. Thank you.
All 3 kids loved the planetarium, they're 7 and 9. My husband was gutted we had to leave. The Ocean talk was awesome and really got my girl interested in science. Will say get there for 10am as the car park over the road was empty!
