This 16-hectare nature reserve features a mix of woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats, providing a haven for a diverse range of wildlife. A network of trails and footpaths allows visitors to explore the reserve, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. The reserve is particularly notable for its stunning display of bluebells in the spring, which carpet the woodland floor in a vibrant blue hue. Other highlights include a picturesque pond, a variety of wildflowers, and the opportunity to spot birds, insects, and small mammals.
Went to see the badgers at the hide. Walked quietly from the car park and saw rabbits and a Minyjac on the way in. Despite a full hide (lots of excited kids who didn't always keep still) we saw loads of badgers (peak of 18 at once) and a fox. It was very late getting dark and we were there before dark so got to see them in daylight. Really amazing!
Small but pretty. Walk can be confusing first time & the huge noisy geese are hilarious. If you don't like rats then avoid the geese enclosure!
Went for the badger experience and was so incredible. Saw badgers constantly from about dusk, at one point counted 11 badgers and 2 deer! Incredible and really well set up.
Absolutely well worth the visit, really well run the Warden Mike Clark was so helpfull, will definitely go again, see about 10 - 12 Badgers feeding
If you are able to book the badger watching it is a magical experience! Revisited with kids 3 years later and it's still amazing!
My son in law booked the badger hide for Friday evening. Arrived at sunset and left after 11pm saw lots of badgers (15 to 20 at once) feeding in the wild. Excellent experience - believe there is a 2 month email waiting list for this. Its popularity speaks volumes -
Getting tickets in advance recommended
Good for kids
