Description
Tewkesbury Museum will reopen on Sat 15 June after a 9 month major renovation! The building is now wind and weatherproof, the 17th Century moulded ceiling restored. For a few weeks we will be a bit chaotic as many things are still in boxes, but the fair and battle rooms are complete. This is a good chance to see the building in a raw state, before the furniture returns, Tewkesbury Museum is a small community museum focusing on life in Tewkesbury town and the surrounding area. Housed in a 17th century building, its major displays include the Battle of Tewkesbury (1471) and a working model fairground symbolising the importance of the "Mop Fair". Admission is free, but donations are very welcome to fund this volunteer run, charitable museum.

A museum full of the history of Tewksbury. From prehistoric to modern times. The animatronic fairground is incredible, the effort put into it was mindblowing. That alone is worth a visit. Then upstairs is a room for the historic Battle of Tewksbury with a model of that battle. There are items to see in every nook and cranny so don't skim the rooms. Very interesting place and a beautiful building in itself.

There's so much to learn about our town Tewkesbury. The model mop fair and Tewkesbury Battle is fascinating but my favourite is the Priestley collection from the Antarctic Adventures with Shackleton.

Amazing place to visit. So welcoming and friendly, the kids loved the penguin hunt and it got them involved with the everything else. The fair is amazing, definitely the kids favourite part and the boy can't wait to bring his grandad to see it

Amazing fair ground model village. Let our dog in to the model village room so worth an ask if you have a dog and have come on holiday and can't leave them in the holiday cottage etc. Very friendly people too. Really enjoyed the visit
