"The Alnwick Garden gives pleasure in so many ways to so many people from all walks of life. It has become a contemporary pleasure garden, which brings joy to millions. When I see photographs of it in darkness I feel that I'm watching it sleep, resting in preparation for the people it has to entertain the following day. To me, a garden without people is dead and people have bought The Alnwick Garden to life and restored its soul." - The Duchess of Northumberland
Stunning place, lots of things to do, lots of fun if you want to bring children, splashing around in the water gardens. There are lots activities for children too, we saw water pistol games lead by a staff member and some cress planting too, they have an educational area called roots and shoots. The poison garden was amazing and the staff were very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the cherry tree orchard with the swings too. Also the shop is absolutely amazing! Be prepared to run out of time to do both the garden and castle, as we will need to come back to do the castle separately, however the castle is a separate ticket to the gardens anyway.
I am so glad we travelled all the way to visit this wonderful place, and it did not disappoint! What a stunning and idyllic place to visit if you're in Alnwick; beautiful landscape, gardens and water features throughout full of natural beauty. This place had so much more to offer than we had initially imagined, and it is very much worth the price. Fabulous gardens, water features and displays, bamboo mazes, poison gardens, and more. They also put on a variety of activities for families and young peoples, so there is lots to do for all the family when you visit. The tour in the poison gardens was included in the ticket price and was very informative and our guide was very engaging also. This is an attraction you must visit if ever you're in Alnwick, but make sure you give yourself at least 3 hours to take it all in and enjoy yourself.
Blue sky and sunshine always makes a difference. Lots of water features and beautifully arranged gardens. The Poison garden is a must and get on one of the guided tours, informative and witty. Also find one of the swings in the blossom orchard.... Great facilities, all very clean, just what you need for a few hours in the sunshine
This was truly a breathtaking experience!! Over 100 different kind of roses at the garden and they all have their own distinct scent. I spent the afternoon exploring different kind of plants and we even had a little presentation about toxic plants and roots and how they were used back in the day. I cannot wait to go back there!!
I was absolutely blown away by the sheer size of this place. We were there for two hours but didn't get to see it all, unfortunately. Every nook and cranny is magnificent and so stunningly beautiful. It is easy for you to get lost here. I highly recommend a visit to the rose garden. The smell is unreal! Also, definitely check out the poison garden. The tour guide is very funny and informative. Just don't touch or smell anything!! Perfect place for all the family
