It is an absolute gem, and the fact that it's free to enter is a real bonus. They've got an impressive collection of historical treasures on display. Although the insect specimens weren't quite to my taste, the rest of the exhibits were truly remarkable. It's definitely worth popping in if you're in Canterbury!
It is a delightful gem, offering a unique blend of art gallery, museum, and library. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, showcasing an eclectic mix of local history, fine art, and contemporary works. The interactive displays and hands-on activities make it engaging for visitors of all ages. The building itself is an architectural beauty, adding to the charm of the experience. Whether you're an art enthusiast, history buff, or simply looking for a cultural outing, The Beaney is well worth a visit.
It is incredible that places like this are free. When you think of all the tourist attractions in Canterbury this may go amiss, but it is genuinely a fabulous museum. Lovely staff, attentive and kind, with fabulous exhibitions showing a diverse period of history.
An interesting museum, free of charge, with a varsity of collection, and innovative ways to educate. The museum provides glimpses of various artefacts, collected mostly during the overseas colonial days of Great Britain. However some Canterbury related artefacts are also on display, providing a small albeit interesting view on this city's past. An adjacent library is also available with a wide spectrum of books.
I like the interesting layout of both museum and art galleries. Been there with friends and there was a lot to enjoy if you bring young kids. First time visiting, but would definitely visit again some time when in Canterbury because really like the 19th century building.
Fantastic place to visit if you're in the area! So good regardless of age I think - something for everyone. We visited as two adults for the gallery and history and had a great time. Entry was free, which is incredible for what you can do and see here. It was clear there were tons of activities for kids. There were lots of information points, a library and shop too. There was a lift inside. We particularly enjoyed the art gallery side of it, staff all friendly and approachable.
