The Cabin Museum is a small, rustic museum located in the heart of the New Forest in Hampshire, England. The museum is housed in a charming 19th-century cabin and showcases the history and heritage of the New Forest, with exhibits on the forest's ecology, geology, and human history. The museum's collection includes artifacts, photographs, and interactive displays that tell the story of the forest and its people, from the Bronze Age to the present day. Visitors can explore the museum's compact but informative exhibits, which include a recreated Victorian-era cottage, a display on the forest's shipbuilding industry, and a collection of historic photographs. The museum also offers a small gift shop and a peaceful garden area, perfect for relaxation after exploring the exhibits.
A truly amazing collection, carefully displayed and with detailed accounts of the exhibits. The museum is small but informative. The collection of personal stories from the area across the 20th century in particular has been meticulously assembled and is easily accessible. For example, there is a collection of photographs from one of the local schools from about 1902 to the present. The museum is free to enter but there is a donation box which is near the exit. It is well worth the time spent here.
