The Courtauld Gallery is home to one of the world's great art collections, located in the magnificent historical setting of Somerset House in central London. Book your visit now to see one of the most renowned art collections in the UK, including iconic Impressionist masterpieces such as Manet's A Bar at the Folies Bergere and Van Gogh's Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear.
This place is a hidden gem. Not only students get in for free, but you also could never expect what you're going to find. I was walking through London looking for something to do when I stumbled into this amazing museum. The gallery itself is architecturally amazing. But what I liked the most about it was being able to see paintings by Gauguin, Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir and so many more. Also, the gift shop is charmingly furnished, and the staff is very kind. Loved it so much, more people should know about it.
A beautiful and underrated gallery in London. We visited on a Friday and the gallery was pleasantly empty compared to some of the galleries in London. Entry costs PS10 (PS12 with donation) and you have to buy tickets separately for the special exhibition. I personally enjoyed the Impressionist and post-impressionist paintings, with artists such as George Seurat, Monet, Renoir and Manet.
We were welcomed by helpful staff and there was no wait as our entrance tickets (PS10) were timed. It was easy to find our way round the galleries and its a pleasant environment. There are lockers if you need to store your bags. The Art Cafe is cozy and they do a great carrot cake. There is also a gift shop.
Beautiful selection of the most famouse paintings that truly changed the history of Art. 2 h is not rnough to explore the main exhubition thoroughly with addition temporarly exhibitions in a side rooms. Lovely building inside with amazing staircase The addmission is not free (PS10 on June 2024) but is worth every penny.
Free admission for students! It is my favorite museum in London. The exhibition experience is very comfortable and the circulation is well planned. The variety of souvenirs is also very rich and exquisite, highly recommended!
This is a lovely, airy, oasis of calm and beauty in the middle of London. A short walk from Temple underground brings you to the gallery in Somerset House in the Strand. It has some wonderful impressionist and post-impressionist art - Degas, Manet Monet, Pissarro, Renoir and Van Gogh, to name but a few - and earlier works, too, is accessible by an attractive spiral staircase or the lift and has free lockers for you to store your things while you go round. Check the website for exhibitions and get in free if you have the Art Fund's National Art Pass. The photos are a small indication of how appealing this gallery is.
