The Daymark is a 19th-century navigational aid located on the hillside above the village of Leith Hill in Surrey, England. This 40-foot-tall (12 m) triangular structure is built from red and yellow brick, with a distinctive black band running around its middle. The Daymark was designed to serve as a visual reference point for ships navigating the English Channel, particularly during times of poor visibility. Its prominent position on the hillside made it visible from a distance, helping mariners to chart their course. Today, the Daymark remains a striking landmark and a popular spot for walkers and nature lovers.
Reasonably interesting construction, built to aid navigation in the mid-to-late 1800s. There's not a great view of the coast from it and there's nothing to do there (we had a small picnic under it) but there's an interesting National Coastwatch station (NCI) a short walk down the road. The construction itself is interesting but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. We walked to it from Kingswear, along the coast path, approximately 5km, lots of changes in altitude, lots of steps.
I enjoyed the walk here. What a fascinating sight to see. Absolutely fantastic location with views across the ocean surrounding it. There is a car park half a mile away which joins to the path to here. It is an easy walk but after heavy rain it can definitely have a bit of surface water so you might need some wellies! Apart from that you won't regret the views when you get here.
Very Game of Thrones. Fascinating and spectacular with great views. Access is from the track half way down the field..there is a footpath gate and sign. Nb the top of the field says no access so use the side official path.
Lovly views warth a visit if your passing
Interesting structure and lovely view
Park at the Brownstone (National Trust owned) car park, and head through the gate for the short (10 mins) walk to the Daymark. Lovely unspoilt views, and you can continue walking to the coastal path if you wish (though that's all downhill, so be prepared for the walk back).
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Good for kids
