Free museum on local history, including the shipbuilding & steelworks industries, with a playground.
It is very accessible to the city centre of Barrow-in-Furness. It has a cafe you can have your meal there. My museum is a place to understand the prehistoric, Roman, Viking, medieval and modern (from Victorian to WW2) history of Barrow-in-Furness. A nice place to spend hours with your children and talk about history.
Really interesting museum about the local history of Barrow In Furness, including its connection with ship building. The museum itself is based in a former dock, hence the name. Good for kids and grown ups alike. Free entry but donation appreciated. Nice little cafe, where we purchased a kids lunchbox for my daughter, which was enjoyed. Free parking outside along with a great playground.
Such a brilliant museum with lots of high quality and interesting exhibits. You can visit 2 of the 3 floors and there are incredible and intricate models of ships, a video room and a variety of other exhibits connected to the history of Barrow. Entry and parking is free and there is also a cafe inside and children's play area outside the museum.
I didn't get to go inside this place, but I started the trail here. There is a playground and free parking. One to visit another time.
Excellent free to visit museum. Brilliant for all the family. Interesting history of the local area. Many different exhibits and interesting artifacts. Nice cafe with quick, friendly service. Nice walks along the Channelside with information about the local area. Plenty of parking all free.
Brill visit, a real eye opener and a must see if in the area, parking a bit limited at present as work is being done in the car park so a section of the car park is closed, recommend getting there early
