This former steam engine house turned visitor center showcases the industrial heritage of the region, offering interactive exhibits, artifacts, and educational programs that delve into the history of steam power and its impact on the local community.
Nice little museum with a number of engines to see. Plenty of seating for the cafe with views across the Severn and beautiful place to watch the trains. All staff are friendly and helpful. Food in cafe is good with hot meals or lunch snacks and cakes. Cheesecake is award winning. I loved it
Interesting place to visit. Plenty of steam train exhibits to see and a few activities for the kids to look at. Great playground. I felt underwhelmed by the food on offer at the cafe. Mind you, it was Tuesday and far from capacity. The cakes looked good. Why didn't I have one? Coffee was good from the machine. PS20 for two sausage rolls and chips, and two drinks. Great view from the balcony.
What an amazing place to visit. My son absolutely loves trains and his favorite engine was here, that's one of the main reasons for visiting whilst we were on holiday. It's a beautiful museum and really informative. You can even get on to some of the carriages, especially the royal mail one, which was also part of the great train robbery. Would definitely visit again and make use of the coffee shop where you can sit and look out over the Severn valley railway. Well worth the visit.
The residents from a care home thoroughly enjoyed this museum, it was just big enough for them to walk around and they reminisced about days gone by. Lovely staff and even a cafe upstairs. Definitely worth a visit and it's free to enter
I absolutely loved this place. Engine's were amazing and so well kept. Views of the river were spectacular and the station was very well presented. We had a fabulous time here.
We spent an enjoyable day on the SVR travelling up to Bridgnorth behind Taw Valley and visited the Engine House on the return journey. It is an excellent place to spend an hour or more viewing the static locos and other exhibits. A nice cafe serving both hot and cold food. There is a play area for children and a good viewing place to watch trains go by.
