The Exmoor Forest Inn is situated at the very heart of wild Exmoor - Simonsbath - a remote village, lying in a sheltered valley surrounded by imposing hills and extensive unspoilt moorland. We are the sister business to an organic hill farm and our restaurant aims to create a menu that champions organic, seasonal, local and sustainable ingredients. We are in the Michelin Guide & Good Food Guide 2024. Fully renovated in 2022, the Exmoor Forest Inn offers guests a choice of eleven comfortable en-suite rooms. We accept one night stays when booked direct with us. Dogs are welcome. Our campsite is open from Easter until September. We welcome Britstop guests to stay who have booked in advance for supper.
We had a family birthday weekend here and had a lovely time. The rooms are well decorated- comfortable beds and nice showers. The menu featured local produce and all food was well prepared and presented. All staff were friendly and their care and attention helped make the weekend very special. Many thanks
Had an amazing dinner there. Excellent terrine and delightful hake, samphire and new potatoes main. Beautifully presented, excellently cooked. Staff were very attentive and gave some great wine recommendations. Loved it! Highly recommended. Food locally sourced and prepared with passion. If I lived closer I'd be a regular!
Nice hotel in middle of moor so great base for walking|Feels like had a recent upgrade - no real views from our room but spacious with comfy bed|Restaurant seems v popular- dinner menu not huge choice but v tasty with local produce. Couldn't agree on texture for medium rare steak but took off bill without being asked. Interesting wine list|Good breakfast with helpful staff
Excellent locally sourced food, friendly attentive staff and very good value. We stopped here once we had our car back after having stayed two nights in another nearby hotel where we were without our car. What a breath of fresh air this place was! Really great food and all the staff were friendly and helpful while managing to not bother you. Wish we could have eaten here every night as it was actually cheaper than the place we stayed nearby and many times the quality.
As soon as we arrived we were blown away at such a magical setting ~ The village and location of the hotel are suburb with amazing walks and woodlands surrounding it. The decor was really tasteful & we even had our room upgraded which was such a lovely extra. Service was second to none ~ everyone was really friendly and welcoming with advice on where to visit locally. We were served by Kristina mostly, she was so attentive and kind, and really approachable with any questions we had. And the food was just amazing ( they have a Michelin star in sustainability ) ~ we ate there both nights as it was really high quality / tasty food ! And Kristina's strawberry daiquiri was 10/10 Had a great stay ~ Thank you
We had dinner here on evening. Really good quality and excellent cooking. All food locally sourced or grown/bred on site. Menu changes regularly but if you see squid with chilli jam and clotted cream I high recommend it. Very nice indeed.
