The Fenn Bell Conservation Project was started with two Kune Kune pigs, Ginger and Spice. Little did we know how taking these two pigs on would open up a whole new world for us. Fast forward to today and we have achieved so much. We have lots of local schools visit us to learn about the animals and the natural world. We are now working with Hadlow and Mid-Kent college with their animal management students helping to produce the next generation of zookeepers and conservation warriors. Conservation, education and research must be the way forward for us all. Sadly Ginger and Spiced passed at nearly 15 years old, but their legacy lives on through us all at The Fenn Bell. We look forward to seeing you all here and hope you enjoy your visit.
We loved it here. 4 children & 3 adults attended. It was better than we expected and we spent a nice couple of hours wandering around & had a cheeky beer as it was a hot sunny day. Fortunately all the animals were visible which is unusual in hot weather. They tend to sit in the shade. Come & visit. This is a conservation project that needs financial support. Visit the zoo & book lunch in the pub & spend some family time here supporting a local cause.
We had a lovely family day out..cost us PS22 for a family of five with a baby a toddler and child. Reasonably priced Loads of parking Really well kept zoo Lovely play area Lovely large food hall where you can take your own food or order hot food from there. The food comes from the lovely pub next door where you can go to eat and come back in if you prefer. Decent sized gift shop You can spend an hour walking around with a great view of the animals . One thing I think could improve it is a play area for younger children our nearly 2 year old had to spectate whilst the other two played
The Fenn Bell Conservation Project, located at The Fenn Bell Inn, is an amazing place to visit. Although the zoo is quite small, it's lovely to see the variety of animals they have. There is currently a lot of construction going on, as they are expanding to include more animals, which is exciting. The staff were really nice and made our visit pleasant. However, the only downside was our experience at the food hall. We ordered a full breakfast and had to wait a bit, and when it arrived, the all-day breakfast was cold and tasted really bad. While the zoo itself is perfect and a great place to visit, I do not recommend the food. Overall, it's a wonderful spot for animal lovers, but it might be best to bring your own snacks or eat elsewhere.
Stayed in the nearby Haven. We came and spent an hour walking around. We could have made it a much longer experience as there was a fantastic playground and a really good cafe. There are no limitations as to how many times you walk around, and the gift shop had a fantastic range of items. They even had little bits for a pound. The staff were really friendly and approachable.
So on a positive, nice way to spend an hour and the facility's and food was nice. We were a party of 4, ate lunch in the pub part which was good value, decent size portion and lots of choice. Not too long to wait and tasty. The zoo was just ok though. For me I think it was overpriced. PS7.50 an adult, myself and 3 children was PS27. Doesn't sound expensive but it's a very small place, takes 30-45 minutes to walk round at a stretch! We were there in total for 40 minutes and looked at/read everything plus this includes in the play area and had a slushy. I feel the entrance price should be PS5 at best. While I appreciate the work and expense that goes into these places it's definitely overpriced in comparison to a typical farm or zoo which is vastly bigger for not much more in cost. No talks, feeding times or demonstrations listed, only paid extras like feeding the meerkats. Still a lovely few hours for lunch and a Quick look round but at PS70 total just not good value
What a hidden gem - this little zoo and the lovely staff are well worth a visit. Great layout, you can see the level of thought that has gone into every part of it and you can tell this place is a true labour of love. The safari ride was loved by the children and the guy running it was really friendly. The food in the pub was superb. Its very reasonably priced, the animals look so content and well looked after. Lots of interesting information on them and the story of the zoo around the various enclosures. It was honestly one of the best days out we have had. Lovely lady on the gate and in the gift shop. Parking onsite. Some of the best facilities I've seen anywhere (spotlessly clean almost luxury toilets, little sinks for handwashing at the picnic tables/playground, an amazing covered picnic area where you can watch the monkeys). All Hallows Haven is only about 3 miles down the road and its a shame this zoo isnt promoted there (if it is we definitely didnt see it), it could help out its 'neighbour' especially as Fenn Bell is big on conservation and the creator/owner of the zoo is a local who wanted to build an 'affordable for all' place to visit. Hard to pick our favourite animals amongst them but the Binturongs were gorgeous! A massive thank you to all at Fenn Bell - your hard work is very much seen and appreciated in your AMAZING zoo!!
