We're planting trees and using woodlands to make life better for people and wildlife in the Forest of Marston Vale, which covers 61 square miles between Bedford and Milton Keynes, and looked very different 30 years ago. Tree cover was a pitiful 3% - a third of the national average at the time. To help the area recover, the Government designated the area as a Community Forest - one of 13 in the UK. The idea was that planting trees and using woodlands would make life better for people, and wildlife. We're working towards 30% tree cover, which is another 5 million trees. The Forest Centre and Millennium Country Park is home to 225 hectares of woodlands, our visitor reception team, a cafe, gift shop, toilet facilities and rooms for hire.
Great little place. Beautiful visitor centre with a large cafe. Walks are also stunning with so much greenery and wildlife to see. Came during a weekday, so was relatively quiet and ample parking Kids play area outside of the cafe and lots of picnic benches outside.
A lovely place to walk and enjoy the views across the lake. At the moment it's not possible to walk all the way around the lake as some of the pathway is closed due to safety issues. Still worth a visit. The cafe offers a good range of light meals and there's a great play area for the children to enjoy.
Very nice visitor centre with cafe and shop. Nice walks around the lakes and area with plenty for kids to see and do. There is a wildlife area with nature reserve that you do have to pay to visit and no dogs are allowed in there. There are hides where you can observe wild down the lake. We saw deer, rabbits and plenty of wild birds. Lots of car parking spaces but you do have to pay cash or contactless. Toilets inside and outside including disabled.
A lovely place for a walk around the nature reserve where we saw roe deer, birds and many butterflies and dragonflies. Good cafe too.
Came across this place only recently and have been twice in one week now, absolute gem of a place! Lovely children's park, cafe offering good selection and service, lovely staff and great walks. The parking is really reasonably priced as well. Will definitely be continuing to go.
Hired a bike and went for a ride arounf the forrest, highly recommend as its very scenic but a certain level of fitness is required...
