This self-guided trail takes visitors on an immersive adventure through the beautiful woods of the New Forest, featuring 14 zones each showcasing a different aspect of the beloved children's book character, The Gruffalo.
Lovely walk and nice wee park for kids to play in to the side of the trail. Various routes to be taken round :) wasn't too busy when we visited on a Sunday morning. Kids had fun finding various gruffalo wooden sculptures.
Nice wee walk, unfortunately some of the carvings have been removed, according to other visitors this was due to rot in the wood and vandalism. The ones that are left are still nice and children enjoy seeing them
Short walk around the lake with a wee playground. So short that our 16 month old walked almost all of it - I can recommend it for younger children as well! Beside the wood carvings, we even saw a real doe and a swan family. There are only a couple of parking slots though
Lovely walk... new benches installed since my last visit. And a few more animals installed too. Wee cygnets were at the side of the water today... as well as coots and ducks.
Just be aware that the actual Gruffalo carving has been cut down. The Gruffalos child and mouse are still there, but the Gruffalo is gone. It is still a lovely walk. Not too far for little legs. Two year old loved finding the animal carvings. Pond has ducks. Brand new enclosed playground built half way round.
Not exactly a trail. More of a circular walk round Kilmardinny Loch with a few handcarved Gruffalo characters, some in need of repair. Pleasant walk. Very popular with dog walkers. A slight detour takes you to a play park suitable for most ages but not fenced off. Recent bonus was a nesting swan.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
