Riverside national forest with towering Douglas firs, a waterfall & resident beavers & squirrels.
Undoubtedly, one of the top tourist attractions in Scotland. The waterfall is surreal, and the walking trail through the forest and greenery will feast your eyes for sure. A must-visit place, especially during the time of Autumn!
This is a fabulous place, one of the best places for a green hike! It was a typical pouring of rain August day, so we only walked to the waterfall viewing platform but the trees and noise of the water in that short walk was enough to soothe our soul. There is a wonderful wee coffee and donut van that serves fantastic coffee and tea.
Another off the beaten tourist track place we decided to visit. It was one of our favourites. Yes there are higher and more spectacular waterfalls around the world but the charm of this woodland area with its stonework bridge makes it a lovely, romantic spot. We visited early and had the place to ourselves and we were able to scramble around the rocky river bed. Ossian's Hall was built as a retreat from daily life in 1757.... even more relevant today to get out and enjoy nature.
I was driving past and had some time to spare, so came to see what it's like here. I absolutely love the noise of the river. Starts off sounding like a trickling brook and goes on to be a noisy waterfall. The scenery, the trees and forests, the giant boulders at the waters edge, the ornate bridges and archways etc etc. This place is amazing. I had a quick dip in a plunge pool where the water was a lot calmer and slower etc. Very cold, but sooooo refreshing. And free parking too as I'm a member of national trust Scotland. I will be back!
Beautiful walk through the woods. Very relaxing. Dog friendly except in the Ossian Hall building. Reasonably flat to walk. Huge trees. Fantastic waterfall
A nice walk in the forest. Not very long. About 20 minutes for a round walk to the Hermitage and the waterfalls a bit more if you also want to visit the cave. The views are super nice and worth it. There is a parking nearby and it is easily accesible through the road.
