Today, the Hirsel Estate (open 365 days of the year) provides visitors with a fascinating day out in beautiful surroundings. The Hirsel Homestead Cafe & Farm Shop is open 10 am - 5 pm March to October and 10am - 4 pm November to February. Opening hours for the craft shops can be found directly on each of their websites. An entry charge of PS2.50 per car is made to visitors, enabling them to enjoy the facilities provided by the Estate and assisting in the cost of maintaining the walks on the Estate. Regular visitors may choose to purchase a Season Ticket at a cost of PS15 per annum, allowing them entry to the Hirsel's visitor facilities throughout the year. Season Tickets can be purchased from The Homestead Cafe.
What an absolutely delightful serendipitous find. Privately owned estate to which members of the public are invited. Just PS2.50 to park which goes towards upkeep. How delightful of the owners to share their beautiful land. Well signposted paths of beautiful walks. Facilities: tearoom with some produce, artist workshops. Toilets. Dogs allowed on leads.
Lake circular walk does require care watching the pathway however as the view of the water was pretty non existent, watching the pathway in fact did prove to be the highlight of the walk. Butterflies several, froglets dashing into the undergrowth, once you get your eye in they were easy to spot. Conditions though for a flurry of blue damsel flies was the highlight. Must compliment the dogs on leads policy the estate has in place. Ice cream to complete the visit yummy. Also the farm shop stocks produce from Chain Bridge Honey farm so has saved me a return visit, although always a great place to visit.
A regular walk of ours. Easy lakeside paths, azaleas and rhoderdendrum area is mature, some huge plants. Good size parking area, lovely cafe and craft galleries. Also, Coldstream riverside walk is stunning.
Gorgeous country estate with glorious walks, amazing cafe and farm shop and wonderful shops showcasing local artisans' wares. A paltry parking fee allows access to everything this delightful estate has to offer.
It was a very rainy day and a continuation of seemingly endless rain these last couple of months. So I took a dog walk on the red route which I really enjoyed as did Willow my lab. The estate is well presented but today was wet and muddy under foot. There are other walking routes so I'll probably visit in the summer as there is much more to explore. I'm not keen on the many 'Dogs on leads' signs everywhere as this excludes folk who have control over their dogs but maybe there's been problems with dogs worrying livestock who knows. Nice shop lots of goodies on sale and a very pleasant woman serving. Went in for a coffee ended up spending PS22 on coffee, bread, tablet etc... I last visited over 50 years ago with my parents it was one their favourite places. Parking PS2.50 all day or PS15 for the year.
