The aquarium displays local freshwater and marine species in lovingly recreated natural habitats. There are feeding demonstrations and fishkeepers on hand to ask any relevant questions to. There is also a cafe serving delicious coffee and a selection of pasties, cakes and scones and a gift shop.
Decided to meet friends here as it was pouring with rain and we were on holiday. It looked small from the outside and there was a bit of a queue to get it in but staff explained to us why & it was due to the 10min explanation they provide before you go round which is totally worth the wait! So cool to see just how much is in our local environment and likely often miss. So nice to visit an independent locally focused aquarium - definitely recommend!
We stumbled across this aquarium wondering around Ilfracombe looking for somewhere to entertain our 6 year old. It was brilliant and she enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day for a second visit with her Grandparents! It is small but it's so clean and well cared for and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. It's really interesting to see and learn about our local wildlife and she loved the quiz. Great value for money, would highly recommend.
Visited yesterday found it great really. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Was only small so 45-1 hour would be more then enough time to have a good look round
I echo what some of the other reviews say. It is tiny. I really took my time and even half went around a second time yet was still out of there in 40 mins. Perhaps a little expensive taking into account the size. It was alright and did kill a bit of time. Some decent species and course you are there and into sealife for sure check it out. I did not use the cafe there but that looked alright. The cashier was friendly at the aquarium.
Enjoyable to visit. We were prepared for the fact that this place isn't huge, so we took our time. Stopped for an ice-cream and sat on the upper deck.
Fantastic little aquarium. The staff are friendly and helpful. I love visiting and have a yearly pass. Our favourite is the octopus.
