Enjoy the historic Japanese Garden and newly restored woodland walks, which once connected Ella Christie's home, Cowden Castle, to Sha Raku En (the place of pleasure and delight). After exploring the Japanese Garden and Woodland Walks, enjoy lunch and delicious home baking in our Tea Room
Beautiful. Just beautiful. So relaxing. We booked online the day before, but it wasn't necessary. Lots of parking. Very well kept gardens. Little restaurant area. Gift shop. Even have a little map of the area.
Absolutely beautiful gardens. Wonderful garden design. So peaceful and relaxing to walk about and sit on the many benches around the pond. A real sense of Japan in Scotland with the many Japanese maples and Traditional gate designs (Torii). Will return visit again to explore the rest of the park.
What's on offer is well worth the admission ticket. Staff were friendly but not necessarily able to answer questions about the garden. Whilst you're not allowed food in the main garden, I'd highly recommend bringing your own food as the onsite cafe is extortionate and has nothing Japanese themed. There are plenty of areas outside of the main garden where you can enjoy what you've brought along. Please take your rubbish with you.
Absolutely gorgeous place. So beautiful and peaceful. Not all parts are wheelchair friendly, but there is more than enough for all to see.
Beautiful garden and no matter how many visitors there still you feel peace and tranquility , well designed and unique plants are spread around. small but enough to spend a good afternoon, a tea room nearby which you could use after visiting. Booking online is a must.
Pretty Japanese garden that also has a large lawn and a woodland play area for kids. The main paths are wide, level gravel and accessible. Side paths include bridges and stepping stones that are not accessible. Lots of pretty stone lanterns and little covered seating areas. An excellent place for a half day out with elderly family.
