One of Cheshire's Gardens of Distinction. The 28 acre arboretum is situated in the village of Swettenham, holds 800 species of plants, trees and fauna and was the lifelong project of Sir Bernard Lovell, founder of Jodrell Bank. Open year round. RHS Garden Partner. Dogs welcome on leads. Entrance fee PS2.50 per person which goes straight back into managing the site.
Lovely peaceful place for a stroll using the coloured waymarkers. Plenty of spring colour with bluebells, azaleas and wild flowers. Used the pub car park as advised which was useful. We had every intention of reserving for Sunday lunch but sadly our holiday was cut short. Would like to return to see autumn colours. Made the suggested donation online. Fascinated by the dove tree.
Love this place lovely and cool in the shade on a hot day.
This place is a little gem, dogs are allowed, and there are different length walks, ranging from 45 mins to 1hr 30 mins. There are seating areas to rest if required. There is also a nature reserve and walks down to the Brook, if you like trees there are many different varieties here, a lot of the trees have names on so you can know what you are looking at. There is a large pond which they are refurbishing this year. There is a pub there as well, which at present is being totally refurbished, so when finished you can get a meal or a drink. There is also good car parking there as well. There are also guides you can use as as you go round, they are in a green box were the notice board is as you go in. This place is well worth a visit.
Went here on a lovely sunny day. Enjoyed it immensely. Nice woodland walks with so many interesting trees. Will be returning with the grandkids. They'll enjoy looking for the numbered posts among the trees. Thoroughly recommend a visit on a dry day.
Lots of lovely rare trees . Tranquil and quiet. . Honesty box PS2.50 . . Very poorly signposted. . would be easier to say entrance at side of pub. . If pub is busy then tricky parking. . .
The Quinta Arboretum is a delight to visit, today was a bit muddy under foot but well worth the effort. Very peaceful, enjoyed the birds and seeing the ancient Oaks and the beautiful avenues of trees. A bite of lunch at the Swettenham Arms was lovely too.
