This 640-acre woodland is a tranquil oasis, featuring a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees, including oak, birch, and pine. The forest floor is carpeted with bluebells, wild garlic, and ferns, and a network of walking trails and footpaths allows visitors to explore the area. A highlight is the Risley Moss, a rare lowland mossland habitat that supports a wide range of flora and fauna. The forest is also home to several ponds, streams, and wetlands, attracting birds, insects, and amphibians.
Love it here. A lovely stroll round the woods and a couple of hides one of which is usually busy with wildlife. You can often see a jay there too. Fabulous in May when the rhododendrons are in flower. The new picnic area is worth a visit.
A good place to have a walk!
My daughter and I took thr dog for a walk here bit of a distance for me but it was worth it. My dog loved it as its got mixture of woods and path. Very well maintained and clean.
Always a nice walk. It's just a pity the area where the idiots burnt down the observation tower, hasn't been cleared. It's a bit of an eyesore.
Good for buggies, I can imagine it being beautiful in spring /summer, I'll be visiting again. Love the benches along the main route.
Under construction walkway outside visitors centre was very muddy and difficult to walk .
