The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic (MWM) explores British magical practice, making comparisons with other systems of belief, from ancient times to the present day. We aim to represent the diversity and vigour of magical practice respectfully, accurately and impartially through unique, entertaining and educational exhibitions, drawing upon cutting-edge scholarship along with the insights of magical practitioners.
Fantastic place to visit especially if this is your cup of tea, located in the harbour. Very quirky and absolutely packed with witchcraft and occult items and information. We arrived just on last admission time and we had a really good look around even purchased my own Doofah doll . Really glad I got a chance to visit
Visited in mid July, was a very interesting and well put together museum! At PS7 was well worth the price for a very unique experience. Also worth it for the little walk around Boscastle afterwards.
A must-visit if you're a witch or spiritual seeker visiting Boscastle. Curiosities, history, art, and magic all in one quirky, creaky little building by the sea. I enjoyed my visit very much- there is so much to look at and read about! I particularly liked the double-sided Goddess/Hare sculpture on the second floor.
It's worth every penny! The museum has an impressive amount of valuable and interesting items. Although very small, I could easily spend an entire afternoon here. Absolutely thrilled!
I've wanted to come here for a long time and it was not disappointing. It is jam-packed with curios, art, and artefacts. All with informative notes, some more fantastically theorised than historically factual, but this all adds to the majesty. If you aren't here for the magic, you're in the wrong place! The staff were lovely, friendly, and informative. The building itself is historical and, therefore, not the most physically accessible. However, they have made efforts, with a stairlift, to take you to the second floor, should your mobility hinder the use of stairs. I couldn't see a large print book (no pun intended!) for the exhibits, but I managed and photographed the links to read further at my own leisure. There were lots of booklets in the entrance, so I'm sure it's there. It was busy, but the staff attempted to delay visitors moving through, so you didn't feel rushed. The current exhibition had some excellent contemporary works which sat well with the permanent works. There is careful and sensitive consideration to the material that has historically been used to demonise and sensationalise the women (and men) persecuted throughout time as Witches and cunning folk. I highly recommend a visit.
Loved it! Such a cool museum. Nice collections, interesting artifacts, and an interesting exhibition when we were there (early Summer 2024). Would definitely go back and probably spend a bit more time.
