Liked: Absolutely stunning setting! The grounds are well maintained and there is plenty of room between tents. The stream was brilliant with the rope swing and zip wire across it. Fantastic to have a dip and a wander up and down stream although I highly suggest crocs or swim shoes as it's very slippy. There are toys for the younger kids and swings and zip line to play on. You can sit in the sun and have a chat with the chickens that are very cute and vocal. The cave bar is a must in the summer open 2pm-8pm if there's enough staff. Bit expensive but nice all the same. Food was great and we had the family deal 2 pizza 2 chips chicken balls gravy and curry sauce for PS33 which might seem expensive but I'd had enough of BBQS Great little fishing spots and our son caught a couple so win win Staff are lovely and really helpful, it's a family run site and they are great Disliked: Could really use some new toilets and showers as they are very dated. Make sure you have footwear on at all times even in the shower as the floors are full of muddy water which is to be expected with kids and adults in and out of the water walking across fields. Be careful of the steps up to the toilets as these are quite steep especially for little ones or older people. Not really a dislike more of an opinion...it is a more expensive site than others with better showers and toilets maybe put a portacabin or 2 in with more toilets and showers it would be more than worth the price they are asking. The bins and skip were overflowing and bags of rubbish were all over the floor, maybe fence it off so it's not as much of an eyesore.
Liked: Our Second year staying at the old vicarage our children love the freedom to play in the stream which is crystal clear and the park. Pitch sizes are generous. You can sit back and watch the children be children. We also tried out the pizzas and chips which is new this year food was nice. Lovely Weekend Enjoyed by all. Disliked: Toilet Facilities. Women's was closed for repair. The coach house accommodation was opened for use of toilet and shower. However cleaning wasn't regular enough for the amount of people on site. quite often I had to clean before I or my child used the loo and the shower I saw facilities cleaned once in the 2 days I was on site. The shower which I got lucky with timing and managed to use wasn't great either freezing cold or suddenly very hot. That's the only reason for not giving more stars I only stayed two nights so I can cope with not having a perfect shower but the cleanliness really needs improving. everything else was great.
Stunning grounds, my son absolutely loved the stream/river, and spent most of the time paddling up and down catching small fish in a net. Our pitch was nice and had electric hook up. The toilets and showers were pretty good condition, I can see some comments that they get busy but we had no problems the weekend we went. The staff were lovely. Overall a good stay and good value.
Liked: The setting is lovely with the river running through the site. We were there at a bank holiday so the cave bar was open with a small takeaway menu. Plenty of local attractions to visit if needed. Able to have a firepit at night... one of our camping favourites. We didn't have kids with us this time but the ones on site were loving the rope swing and zip line. Nice little park and loads of toys and bikes for the younger ones to play on. Staff we spoke to (especially chicken ball lady haha) were lovely and friendly Disliked: Nowhere near enough toilets and showers for the site. Need a massive overhaul. No hot water in the washing up area. Cave bar was lovely but not manned so could be 10 or 15 mins before anyone came
Liked: The river Disliked: This has for 3 years been our favourite site not anymore. Arrived to find the wedding tent a permanent feature in the middle of the camp ground. No allocated pitches was a free for all and having to find your own electric split and move it. The female toilet block was being renovated no pre warning so could use the male one shower! But nothing on the males door warning them of risk or the shower in the guest house which I attempted no hot water and no room at all. With the amount of people on site I don't know how it's even passable. We left a day early as more and more people arrived pitching where ever they wished which blocked the two usable toilets. One had no seat and the lights didn't work at night. Staff were nowhere to be seen no pitch checks etc so people smoking weed not being picked up on. I am beyond dissapointed and won't be returning. The staff come across as not caring or being bothered at all and the state of the site is an absolute reflection of attitude. It's such a shame.
Liked: First time here came with 2 other couples with children who had been before. We didn't want to leave! Best campsite we have visited very good for children of all ages really! The rope swing over lake was good fun not just for the children but the immature grown ups like myself lol toilets was cleaned regular and never ran out of toilet rolls like some places we've visited. The campsite provided fireplace which was amazing. Everyone was really friendly from staff to fellow campers tried to book again for a couple of weeks but was fully booked so that says it all! Disliked: Didn't dislike anything couldn't fault the place
