For nearly 20 years the Original Ghost Walk of Portsmouth, starting outside Square Tower, Old Portsmouth, has toured terrified visitors around the fortified walls of the most defended Town in Europe, hearing dark stories beyond the tourist trail. Every street in Spice Island was full of Ale Houses, 'Cat' Houses and Chapels, but amongst these narrows streets rival gangs would compete for the trade of the thousands of sailors disembarking every week. On this Ghost Tour you will hear dark stories of history that lay hidden beneath the tourist streets of Portsmouth, stories of what happened to some of these sailors before they disappeared forever. Join us for an immersive evening as we take you into a dark underworld of smugglers and pirates!
I'm a great fan of ghost walks and Dark Encounters were kind enough to put a Portsmouth Ghost Walk on specially for me and my family, visiting for my birthday. I can honestly say it was one of the best I've ever been on. The acting of the two men running the walk was excellent. Their portrayal of their characters was very believable and the interplay between them was slick and made for a very different ghost walk experience. They told a great deal of local factual history in a very engaging way and linked it to local ghost stories and the audience participation was great fun. I can't recommend it highly enough and would say if you are thinking about it then book it and go. You will not regret it. Thank you both. We loved it.
I can honestly state that this tour was the most interesting of the many I have been on. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and not at all pretentious. Many thanks to him from the both of us. I shall certainly recommend this to my friends.
Great production, kept the whole group interested with a massive dose of history for that location. Exciting and well worth the price which was so reasonable. Highly recommended these guys and girls
Our very first Ghost walk around spice island. Was a few years ago now but. Wow it was amazing the actors and actresses were brilliant they really brought everything to life and got the customers involved too i got picked to be a Ladybird and had to try and find out some information on what was being smuggled in from abroad. Although it was very wet and windy it was a fantastic night. Would highly recommend going on a Ghost Walk..
Amazing! Just brilliant, Wymmering Manor is the second one we've been to now and we're already planning to go on more. Keep up the amazing work folks!
